Founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Elon Musk, SpaceX has fast grown into the biggest private sector player when it comes to space launches. Headquartered in Starbase, Texas, SpaceX shot into fame after it demonstrated that orbital-class rocket boosters could be re-used, dramatically bringing down the cost of launching payloads into orbit. Today, SpaceX has become synonymous with its workhorse rocket, the Falcon 9, and routinely takes part in missions for NASA and the U.S. Space Force. Musk's firm has also forayed into satellite internet, launching thousands of Starlink satellites that provide internet across the world. SpaceX is also heavily involved in NASA's Artemis program to return humans to the Moon, with Musk envisioning that the Starship rocket will someday take humans to Mars as well.
