ABOUT US

Starlust is your companion to the cosmos - a destination for stargazers, explorers, and everyday dreamers who look up and wonder what’s out there. Since its launch in 2019, Starlust has grown into a trusted source for skywatching guides and accessible coverage of the latest in space exploration and astronomy. Whether you're charting your first constellation, or following the next Mars mission, we’re here to make the universe feel a little closer.

Our Mission

We exist to turn curiosity into confidence. Our mission is to deliver accurate, easy-to-understand, and visually engaging content that celebrates the wonder of space - from the backyard to the outer planets.

Our Story

Starlust began in 2019 as a personal project by Tom Urbain, a space enthusiast who started documenting his night sky observations, astrophotography techniques, and stargazing guides. What started as a humble blog quickly attracted a global audience - not just because of its stunning visuals, but because it helped people connect with the sky in a way that felt both personal and practical.

Over the next few years, Starlust became known for its clarity, sincerity, and deep respect for the science behind the stars. It covered everything, from solar eclipses and meteor showers to telescope reviews and lunar photography tutorials, slowly building a loyal community of readers with a shared love for space.

In 2025, Starlust entered a new chapter when it was acquired by Scale Content Inc., a U.S.-based digital publishing company focused on audience-first media brands. With this acquisition came new resources to grow Starlust’s editorial team, improve its technical infrastructure, and expand coverage, all while preserving its independent voice and passion-driven ethos.

Today, Starlust operates as a standalone brand within the Scale Content network. It’s still run by a small but dedicated editorial team of journalists, researchers, and creative producers who are united by one goal: helping people discover the night sky and beyond in meaningful, inspiring ways.

What We Cover

We publish a wide range of content designed to make space exploration and skywatching approachable for everyone. Our skywatching guides help readers know what to look for in the night sky each month, from meteor showers to planetary alignments, as well as the best locations to capture the brilliance of it.

We also cover the latest in space exploration, including updates from NASA, ESA, ISRO, and private spaceflight companies.

Our Editorial Values

At Starlust, accuracy comes first. Every article is reviewed by an experienced editor and fact-checked against primary sources, such as scientific journals, space agency data, or expert interviews. We believe science should be accessible, so we take pride in avoiding jargon and always explaining the "why" behind a story.

Editorial independence is essential. Our coverage is never influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or affiliate partners. We maintain a clear separation between commercial and editorial operations, and we clearly label any content that is sponsored or includes affiliate links.

When mistakes happen, we sincerely own them. All corrections are made transparently and time-stamped, in accordance with our Editorial policy.

Our contributors come from around the world, and we actively seek diverse voices to reflect the truly global nature of space exploration.

How We Fund Our Work

Starlust remains free for readers thanks to advertising, affiliate links, and occasional branded content - all of which are clearly disclosed when present. We are affiliated with Raptive for ad management, and we only work with advertisers whose products or services align with our editorial standards.

Affiliate links are carefully selected and never impact our reviews or recommendations. If we don’t believe in a product, we don’t write about it.
